FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
MICB and FABI Reach Amicable Resolution

The Master Inspector Certification Board (MICB) and the Florida Association of Building Inspectors (FABI) have reached an amicable resolution regarding use of the word “Master” as part of certain professional certifications, designations, and membership levels.

MICB had raised concerns about potential similarities between its trademarks - Certified Master Inspector® and Master Inspector Certification Board® - and FABI’s use of Master Professional Inspector, a membership level. This resulted in legal proceedings initiated by MICB, and responded to by FABI with a counterclaim, in federal court in Florida. As part of a mutually agreed resolution, FABI has agreed to rebrand its FABI Master Professional Inspector membership level into a formal accreditation program utilizing new titling and discontinuing use of the word “Master” going forward.

MICB and FABI are glad they can continue their friendship that has lasted over the years and look forward to continuing that friendship for years to come.
