Master Inspector Certification Board, Inc. vs Inspector Nation Inc. and Gregory Enterprises LLP Lawsuit Update (May 29, 2026)

In 2025, MICB initiated legal proceedings against Inspector Nation & Gregory in federal court, to which Inspector Nation & Gregory responded with counterclaims. MICB and Inspector Nation & Gregory have reached an amicable resolution regarding the use of the terms 'certified' and 'master' as part of certain professional certifications. The parties have reached a voluntary agreement to resolve their trademark dispute, enabling each organization to continue focusing on the independent operation of its respective certification programs. Inspector Nation & Gregory have decided to transition their residential advanced tier designations to the matching ‘Inspector Nation Master Level’ title by Winter 2029 to optimize brand consistency and align with its established commercial designation. MICB will continue to protect its trademarks and the prestige associated with the CMI® designation.
