CMI® Appointed to NM Licensing Board

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Certified Master Inspector® Appointed to New Mexico Home Inspector Licensing Board

BOULDER, Colo. (Nov. 19, 2019) – The Master Inspector Certification Board (MICB) is pleased to announce that InterNACHI® member and Certified Master Inspector® Jeff Gorum has been appointed to the newly formed five-member home inspector licensing board for the State of New Mexico.

With the passage of HB-433 by the New Mexico state legislature in April, the Home Inspector Licensing Act was signed into law by Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham and will take effect on Jan. 1, 2020.  New Mexico becomes the 28th state to require the licensing of its home inspectors.

With licensing comes a number of requirements. Aside from background checks, and application and license fees, home inspectors will be required to take classroom and field training, as well as pass a national home inspector exam.  Some requirements will be waived for current home inspectors who can provide proof of having completed a number of fee-paid home inspections during a certain time period.  Licenses are valid for three years before requiring renewal.

Jeff is also the president of the New Mexico Chapter of InterNACHI®.  He can be reached at [email protected] and 575-574-8402 with questions about state licensing and chapter events.
