Using CMI® to market yourself on InterNACHI’s forum

InterNACHI’s message board (forum) comes up often when consumers search for inspectors and inspection-related information (see traffic stats).  You should use your message board posts as mini-ads to promote your inspection business.  The easiest way for Certified Master Inspectors® to do this is to display the words “Certified Master Inspector®” under their name on the message board and display the Certified Master Inspector® logo next to their name and/or in their signature on every message board post.  Those three little words “CERTIFIED MASTER INSPECTOR®” say it all…. and say it quickly.

To add “Certified Master Inspector®” under your name:

  1. Go to your profile editor.
  2. If you do not remember your InterNACHI username or password, get your username and password.
  3. Scroll down to the Suffix field.
  4. Enter the letters “CMI” in your Suffix without the quotation marks.
  5. Scroll down that page and click on the blue “Save Changes…” button.
  6. Go to the message board.
  7. You should then see “Certified Master Inspector®” under your name on the message board.

To add the CMI® avatar next to your message board name:

  1. Go to the Certified Master Inspector® logo download page.
  2. Click on the blue “Download CMI® logos” button.
  3. Click on “OK” if your computer prompts you.
  4. Find the download on your computer and double-click on the “CMI_Logos-1.zip” zip file.
  5. Click on the “CMI_Logos-1” folder.
  6. Move the file titled “CMI logo.png” to your desktop.
  7. Go to InterNACHI’s message board.
  8. If you are not logged in, log in at the top right corner.
  9. If you do not remember your InterNACHI username or password, get your username and password.
  10. Once you are logged in, click on the circular avater at the top right of the message board.
  11. Select preferences by clicking the gear icon.
  12. On the next page, you'll see a section called "Profile Picture". Select the edit icon to the right of your avatar.
  13. Select "Custom picture" and then click "Upload Picture".
  14. Find the CMI® logo on your computer’s desktop.
  15. Click on the CMI® logo titled “CMI logo.png”
  16. Scroll down and click on the “Open” button.
  17. Click on the “Save Changes” button.
  18. Go back to InterNACHI’s message board.
  19. Find one of your previous posts or make a new post.
  20. You should see the CMI® logo next to your name.

All your previous posts will now have the Certified Master Inspector® logo next to your name for consumers to see.  Those three little words quickly say it all!
